Vinemeet Columbus - As Live As It Gets

I'm on my way out the door to the airport on my way to Ohio for the weekend of fun and adventure with some crazy newsvine peeps.

Long story short, I'll be updating this article throughout the weekend in sporadic bursts from "Ziggy", my trusty (if a bit battery hungry) Nokia n810. Not sure how often that will be, or how bad the spelling/grammar might get, given the likelyhood of mind altering chemicals, and just having better things to do then writing :P....but I'm sure I'll get a few bursts in here and there. If you want more bitesized updates, hit up my Twitter account, I'll be sure to update it with plenty of random out of context remarks no one not at the vinemeet will get ;). Photos and such to come later, my camera has been itching to get some action for weeks.....anyway, on with the fun!

***it begins***

I'm off to the airport, I'll be the one with the hippie hair, leather jacket, and giant backpack, walking like I've started drinking early (I haven't though....yet!). Security should be interesting, I have enough electronics and camera equipment on me to keep them busy for a while I'm sure. "Of course I'll turn it on for you. That's an extra battery. That's just lens cleaner. Yes I know I should really get a smaller carry on." The usual. Also looks like I'll end up on a flight without a layover thanks to some shuffling of flights, so I should end up in Columbus a couple hours earlier than I thought. Guess I might be able to get some lunch on that end before my ride gets there.

***update***

made it. currently at the apt with a bunch of folks. there are freezies.....nuff said.

***update***

7:00 vinemeet start
7:10 solve all mass media issues
7:11 make unanimous pack o never reveal solution to the publics

***day one recap***

there was some great bbq chicken(thanks jon) over which many things werfe discussed, including solving the lack of public interest in main stream media using hot chicks and CGI, the problems with the education system, and debating whether good public transit is worth being in a socialist european country....amoung many other things...

there was also a show by Flotation Wells, which was great, and now i'm writting this while adam hobson snores like litle nicky. Fun times.

What do you want to do tomorrow night brain? Same thing we do everfy nigbht pinky.....try to take over columbia brewing company!

***day 2 part 1***

Most of us went out to a late lunch, and are now resting up for will no doubt be a feast of booze, conversation, and insanity to come (and drunk dialing anyone who gets there number to me :P). there is deep discussion on the deck, and Team America playing in the other room. It's pretty laid back at the moment, and half of us are on our respective electronic devices....to the mockery of the others of course.

***party = very yes***

the evening was a mass success, fun times for all, including Dr. Frank.

there were plenty of viners present through the magic of the phone system, and skype, and just an all around great time. not nearly as much drinking (or at least drunk people) as i was expecting, but plenty of fun conversation, and playing rockband (there are photos that will surface iff not already....

got to rub elbows and plot world domination with some of the top viners, and really it's the people that it's all about, so that was awesome.

slowed down around 2am...died before 3......a bit disappointed by the lightweghts really (walt buddy...i missed you :P) and now I'm chillin' on my trusty Ziggy, killing time until i get tired...or breakfast...whichever comes first

***FIN***

the day went by fast, and was pretty relaxed, a little more rock band, and a couple movies and now i'm hanging at the airport waiting to head home and catch up on sleep and give Ziggy a well deserved rest....she proved worthy of my need to be online at all times heh

was a damn good time, those that couldn't make it were missed, but that's what the future is for!

I'm sure there will be plenty of articles floating around to more fully detail specific happenings and future urban legends...and i'm gonna start hunting for them :P

Well I suppose now I'm 2/5 for these things. Of all of them I think I would've wanted to be at this one the most.

Though the historical significance of being at Columbus v1.0 is nice.

There's no way anyone could have called you from Ryan's show, as it was a little on the loud side. I'll call you when we all meet up again to go to the Brewing company thing, and probably later on when we're back at Myk and Ryan's.

You could have just come, and then it really would be live. But instead, you're attempting to live vicariously through us via the internet. That's just saaaaad.

:p

It went smoothly, thanks for asking, his mother had actually taken care of almost everything before i got home, so it was pretty anti-climactic. I wanted to have something big and special to write about, but it was pretty simple. Anyway, I got in a car accident that night and my memory of the day is kinda skewed. Everyone was alright, and it wasn't my fault, but Monica (my car) is gonna need a nose job. :( If there is anything to talk about concerning insurances and their policies i will write about that.

Made it home, though the guy beside me on the plane seemed eager to not leave me alone, some overly serious listing of technical specs of my internet tablet forced him to retreat into his book so I could watch Red Dwarf hehe.

one of the best and easiest halloween costumes i ever saw was a friend dressed like that. For added effect he handed out fortune cookie message sized slips of paper containing parts of the manifesto.

Much better than, say, the guy who comes in a trashbag as white trash.

Great meeting you, Brad. You and I didn't talk much. I figure we're both more shy in person but speak more online. And I'm just impressed you slept through adam's snoring - you're a better, stronger man than I.

Seriously though, please do. I fail completely at starting conversations and small talk and such, but actually having a conversation. Just be warned, I have no "too much information" filter, so don't ask me anything you don't really want an answer to :P

i thought it was hilarious in a way that when brad, adam, prompt and I had lunch at one table we said maybe 100 words (if you include the conversations with the waiter and the "are you sleeping?" questions to adam as he nodded of) while the other table was averaging about 100 words a minute.

I think none of us were small talkers.

Was great meeting/chatting with you. As for the hat, I left it here....only had my carry-on bag, and they tend to frown on really weird items being in there, they gave me hell at security last time I brought the hat through in my bag. Next time I'll bring a bag to check so I can bring it...maybe the whole outfit hehe.
