The Vinecast - Nov. 5, 2008

Today I am joined by urbane gorilla, aka Juliana to discuss her story in the NY Times, and (of course) some politics. This week it runs about 36 minutes...a nice short episode.

You can find the feed for the podcast over here, or if you prefer, you can listen to the audio directly in an embedded player at thevinecast.com. There is even an subscribe by email option for those that don't use a podcatcher or rss feed reader but want to be kept up to date. And for you itunes users, of course you can use that too.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Of course I wouldn't...depending on the nature of the call and how long it was, I may or may not chop it out of the final version of the audio though lol. I'm sure I could fill some time on my own somehow, if anyone's seen any of my old youtube junk, it's obvisious that I can talk to myself for ages :P

I'm not seeing it in itunes either, but I am seeing it the feed that itunes pulls from. itunes must be drunk or ignoring the Vinecast for some reason...I'll look into it. In the meantime, the feed is still working for every other reader I've tested, and there's always the built-in player.

It seems like itunes has stopped being an ass, for whatever reason (wasn't anything I did). Not sure what the issue was, but it's fixed now by the looks of it. :)

Finally showed up on my iTunes - eek!  I never shut up!  Brad, you were so nice and I didn't let you get a word in edgewise hardly.  How ever could you stand it? Anyway,  - esp w/ Miss Viki - I hope you'll let me join a future Vinecast so i can make it up to you and hon e my ethereal skills.  It was fun and I luv the theme song.

What a fabulous interview!! It took me a while to get here but it is as fresh as the Local foods. The local shoppers keep many family farms afloat. More information about connecting with local growers or starting a CSA program near you visit Local Harvest. I think they report the benefit figures of local too!
