So I'm checking out my rss feed reader today to see what's new, and I'm hit with the newest LivingWaters.com newsletter. That would be the newletter of Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron's insane hyper-religious insanity.
I subscribe mainly for the laugh I get out of Ray trying to sound like he knows what he's talking about, but occasionally there are some issues that are good to discuss that come of it.
This is not one of those times. Instead, this newsletter contained the news that they were set to start printing their own version of Charles Darwin's "Origin of Species". Thanks to it being in the public domain, they are free to print their own MODIFIED version of a book they don't like....ah...freedom.
They a 50 page "special introduction"(which can be read, in full, right here), which is essentially a recap of all the idiotic and anti-intellectual bullshit they've been pushing for years regarding the theory of evolution, and slapped it in front of an abridged (which means EDITED....) version of the original book.
The "special introduction" includes such gems of insanity as the connection between the theory of evolution and Hitler, and many more really REALLY idiotic non-sensical junk (and lies...), meant only to discredit the theory outlined in the book it precedes.
They are calling it "Origin of Species: 150th Aniversary Edition", with Charlies Darwin still listed as the author, and only a few passing references to the changes on the back cover, and are offering it for $0.99 per copy. They are even trying to market it to schools...ffs! And hell, where in the library would they put it? The original book would go in the "Science" section...but with the new addition of anti-science propaganda bullshit it wouldn't fit there.
How is this sort of behavior ok? This insanity makes me want to cause serious physical and/or mental anguish to numerous people.
Am I alone in thinking this is EXTREMELY fucked up?
